Patricia has achieved amazing results with relieving the shoulder pain that has plagued me for the past year. As a big believer in massage, I’ve been to 4 different massage therapists to work on this problem, and had nearly given up. In fact, I called The Sanctuary in desperation after an Orthopedic surgeon recommended surgery. After just a few massage sessions and following her advice, it’s significantly better! Thanks Patricia, for making a big difference!
Medical Qi Gong Theory: The Three Bodies
January 21st, 2012
“The human soul is enveloped by and composed of three bodies. These three bodies are linked together, constantly influencing one another. While in the mother’s womb, the human soul is initially enveloped in a spiritual body. Then an energetic body is formed within the spiritual body. Finally, the physical body is constructed within the spiritual and energetic bodies. This allows the individual to live within the lower levels of creation. All three bodies have substance, yet they exist at different levels of vibration.”
Dr. Jerry Alan Johnson, in Chinese Medical QiGong Therapy, Vol. I, p.87

Divine Music
November 10th, 2011
“The ancient Daoists believed that music was the basis of everything; that all things,
including the human body, were molded according to the music performed within its
substance. According to this theory, a primordial sound emitted from a central
spiritual source created the entire physical universe. “ “Music was also believed to
have a powerful social and political influence. Confucius once stated that if the music
of a kingdom changed, then its society would alter itself accordingly.”
Professor Jerry Alan Johnson
Chinese Medical QiGong Therapy, Vol I
If you are what you eat, you are also what you listen to (and read, and watch, and do.)
Confucius was lucky, he didn’t have to filter out environmental noise pollution, such as noxious pop or rap music.
Improving Digestion, part 2
November 7th, 2011
Other strategies we like for improving digestion, particularly if you have an illness:
Research colon hydrotherapists in your area. Herbal colon cleansing can be helpful, and we recommend the kit from Blessed Herbs (this can be found online.)
Abdominal self massage is valuable (there are several approaches to this, such as mayan massage, Chinese tui na, etc.
If you have upper GI problems (such as GERD), it is important to look at whether or not you have low stomach acid. There are simple ways to determine this, and you can ask your health care provider about this.
Medical QiGong treatments, acupuncture and herbal medicine are all recommended.
One last note: Optimal sleep times can support the health of the digestive tract, and this means sleeping deeply between 10pm and 6 am.
Improving digestion, part I
November 7th, 2011
In response to questions about digestion and colon health, we recommend the following literature: Healing with Whole Foods by Paul Pitchford, Healing Digestive Disorders by Andrew Gaeddert, and The Amazing Liver/Gallbladder Flush by Andreas Moritz.
We also recommend cooked food (well-chewed), hot soup or hot tea with every meal
Eat a big breakfast before 9, a good lunch around noon, and a small dinner, before six.
These times are approximate, based upon circadian rhythms described by Chinese Medicine.
What to eat?: whole foods, vegetables, fruit and grains, high quality unrefined oils, gray sea salt.
We also recommend avoiding restaurant and processed foods, and adding the following foods: raw milk, sauerkraut, yogurt, kefir, fresh figs, pineapple, papaya, organic coconut oil, avocados.
Green drinks such as Green Vibrance and other supplements with wheat grass and spirulina are valuable.
We recommend that people with digestive problems investigate whether or not they have allergies or sensitivities to certain foods, and they can do this by trying the rotation/elimination diet.
Other supplements we like are Raw probiotics, Inner Garden probiotic by Natural Plus Plus, Colostrum, G.I. Revive from Designs for Health, and digestive formulas from Health Concerns.
Digestion works better in a calm environment, without tv, loud or noxious music, work, driving a car.

Integrative Medicine
September 26th, 2011
Integrative medicine as we see it does not treat disease, but seeks to help individuals with various symptoms and diseases to heal themselves. We work on seeing beyond the symptoms to the roots of the disease. We look at diet, lifestyle, emotional experiences and relationship patterns as important factors.
